Intergenerational Eco Awareness

Intergenerational Eco Awareness

The "Intergenerational Eco Awareness" project fosters sustainable practices and environmental awareness by uniting children and grandparents in Yasinia to address waste pollution, protect the Tisza River, and promote SDG 6 and SDG 12 through interactive activities and intergenerational learning.

Project "Intergenerational Eco Awareness," unites children and their grandparents at the EcoHub in Yasinia during the last week of September 2024.

Focusing on SDG 6 and SDG 12, the events involve 17-20 participants aged 6-65.

The slogan is "Water is the key to health. Protect mountain rivers from household waste."

Thematic activities include

  • "It's never too late to learn," where children teach grandparents about identifying markings on PET and sorting waste;
  • "Exchange of experience," discussing life before PET and the importance of compost pits;
  • and a questionnaire on the urgency of garbage removal.
  • Participants will create a postcard titled "We have the right to clean water."

This activity aims to raise awareness about the importance of clean water, especially in Yasinia, where low environmental awareness leads to pollution of the Tisza River, affecting the EU.

The project includes a promotional campaign on Facebook and LinkedIn. This initiative fosters intergenerational learning and promotes sustainable practices within the community.

Expected results

1. Increased awareness of SDG 6 and SDG 12 among 17-20 event participants.

2. Enhanced intergenerational knowledge exchange on environmental practices.

3. Improved community engagement in waste sorting and composting.

4. Raised awareness of the local population in the Transcarpathian region on Facebook and LinkedIn through five informative posts.

5. Strengthened commitment to protecting the Tisza River and reducing household waste pollution.
